Beaufort: the city
The city of Beaufort has a population of around 600,000 and is located on the coast to the ocean. It is known to house the largest operational wind farm with over 700 units, both located on land and offshore in the surrounding sea. This farm generates enough power for the whole of Beaufort city, along with few of the surrounding towns.
The biggest turbine: “Mother Tree” measures 500 meters (1,640.4 ft) high, marking it the tallest turbine in the country. The other two secondary turbines: “Little Brother” and “Only Son” are 400 meters (1,312.3 ft) and 350 meters (1,148.3 ft), respectively.
Typical weather in Beaufort is hot, humid and wet. Average temperatures rise to about 35°C (95°F) during the summer months with an average of 50% humidity. It then falls to around 25°C (77°F) and 40% humidity during the winter months. Precipitation is expected most of the year, with rainfalls once every two to three days. This area is also known for its severe thunderstorms.
